Leveraging AI to Scale Universal Design for Learning Universal Design for Learning (UDL) provides a proactive framework to design learning environments where accessibility and equity are built in from the start, rather than retrofitted after the fact. But moving from individual classroom practices to institution-wide adoption may feel overwhelming. This webinar explores how artificial intelligence tools can accelerate and sustain the scaling of UDL across colleges and districts. Participants will see how AI can streamline curriculum processes, such as aligning learning objectives, SLOs, assessments, and instructional strategies, while ensuring they remain culturally responsive and inclusive. Pope Tech Canvas Accessibility Dashboards (Faculty Focused) The California Community Colleges Accessibility Center is proud to announce that Pope Tech Dashboard is available systemwide at no cost to colleges as the result of a RFP. Join the CCC Accessibility Center as Pope Tech demonstrates how to evaluate and remediate course content for accessibility using the features of their Canvas accessibility tools: Dashboard and Accessibility Guide. This in-depth training is appropriate for faculty and instructional support staff who are interested in maximizing these powerful tools to ensure their course content is accessible for all students. All Welcome: Course-Level Accessibility Statements for Ability Specific Courses

This session explores how to develop course-level accessibility statements for ability-specific courses. Beyond the standard syllabus statement, these statements clarify the level of digital access students can expect in Canvas pages, course documents, images, videos, external links, and tools. 

Participants will review a framework to help faculty understand Section 508 and Section 504 obligations and determine when equally effective alternatives should be planned, supporting a proactive and transparent approach to access.

This session shares how a college-wide survey identified gaps in cultural understanding, knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) related to accessibility. Participants will learn how structured assessment and feedback can support strategic planning and strengthen a sustainable culture of access and equity.

3/4/2026 Using Accessibility‑Aligned AI to Move Courses Toward the Revised ADA Title II

The new ADA Title II expectations may feel overwhelming, but there are tools available to make this work more manageable. In this session, you’ll learn how faculty can use AI to support compliance with these requirements while saving time and improving course quality. Participants will see a hands‑on demonstration of AI‑powered tools that support accessibility‑aligned remediation.

Designed specifically for California Community Colleges faculty, this webinar highlights practical, faculty‑centered strategies—without legal jargon or fear‑based messaging. The session will also spotlight CVC@ONE Peer Online Course Review (POCR) Exchange courses as well as key Accessibility Center resources and micro‑courses.

2/19/2026 Artificial Intelligence as a Tool to Support Neurodivergent College Students

AI has the potential to make college more accessible for autistic students by addressing a variety of common challenges, including difficulties with organization, social interactions, and academic tasks. By offering personalized and adaptive support, AI can help bridge the gap between traditional teaching methods and the unique needs of neurodivergent learners. This presentation will discuss how AI can provide tailored support that goes beyond standard accommodations along with issues related to techno-ableism, and instructional concerns.

1/29/2026 Pope Tech PDF Scanning for Websites

Pope Tech is pleased to announce enhanced capabilities for PDF scanning in the Pope Tech Web tool. Join us to learn how to use Pope Tech Web to fix inaccessible PDFs on websites. This session will include a demonstration and best practices for remediation or replacement based on priority and impact.

1/15/2026 Getting Started with Manual Testing for Websites

Automated testing alone is not enough to determine if a website is truly accessible. This training will demonstrate why manual testing is essential for verifying accessibility of websites. Learn about the different types of manual tests and how to get started using practical, straightforward methods via a live demonstration. We'll also cover how to record results, determine which pages to begin with, and set reminders using the Pope Tech Web Tool. You'll leave with actionable steps to integrate manual testing into your workflows.

The California Community Colleges Accessibility Center is proud to announce the Pope Tech Dashboard is available systemwide at no cost to colleges. Join us for an introduction to creating accessible Canvas courses using the Pope Tech Accessibility Guide and Dashboard, including how to find, prioritize, and fix common issues. We will also review the administrator dashboard and settings.

10/16/2025 Service Animals, Emotional Support Animals, and Therapy Animals

Many people with disabilities use service animals to help them with disability-related tasks. This one-hour session will explore how to know when an animal is a service animal under the ADA and what to do if the handler does not keep it under control. It will also help attendees learn when they may need to allow emotional support animals under housing law. Finally, the session will show when therapy animals may be used.

9/18/2025 What’s Happening in the CCC Accessibility Center?

The Accessibility Center will provide an update on courses created over the summer and products with continued support for the 25/26 fiscal year. We will also provide an overview of scoped activities for the year along with a brief update of ACMM Implementation.
